Esta antigua ruta comercial se extiende por mas de 4000 kilómetros y atravesando provincias, pueblos, ciudades y aldeas en los cuales podemos disfrutar de la autentica historia de la ruta de la seda, apreciaremos bellos y naturales paisajes, así como los monumentos históricos que han resistido al paso del tiempo.

La ruta de la seda debe su nombre a la mercancía más preciada que se transportaba por ella, la seda. Este material tan valioso, durante mucho tiempo fue exportado únicamente desde la China, ya que eran los celosos conocedores de su forma de elaboración y durante muchos años supieron guardar el secreto.

La ruta de la seda se convirtió no solo en un paso para mercancías como piedras preciosas, vidrio, coral u otras mercancías manufacturadas, sirvió al mismo tiempo como una vía por la cual el Budismo se extendió por toda Asia. También, monjes de todos los reinos iban de peregrinaje a la India para encontrar manuscritos y textos budistas originales, traducirlos y ampliar sus conocimientos sobre la filosofía budista, la medicina o la astronomía.
